According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), North America is in the height of its flu season right now: people are missing work, filling waiting rooms at walk-in clinics and at doctor's offices; children are missing school. All around us people are fizzling out, coughing and sputtering, running at quarter throttle.

At times like these it is reassuring to be able to open one's refrigerator door and see a whole shelf of armament, courtesy Youngevity and Dr. Wallach. Majestic Earth Ultimate Classic, for example, certainly on my shelf, is an incredible piece of weaponry, a powerful grouping of nutrients most of which our immune system cannot function without. How do we make white blood cells, macrophages, killer T cells, lymphokines, IgA antibodies, etc., after all? The answer is, by means of a complex series of chemical events, none of which could occur without intake of essential nutrients. So when we supplement with the ME Ultimate Classic we can walk pretty tall, knowing that we are doing right by our bodies, right by our own health. And if we do start to falter, maybe we are dealing with extra stress or insufficient sleep and we feel something coming on, even still, we have options. Besides keeping a full armory of Dr. Wallach products in the fridge, ready for use, there is something just as crucial to our health, that we need, that does not come in a bottle. A recent phone call with a long time Youngevity loyalist / customer, reminded me of this the other day. What is it? It is patience, plain and simple, commitment and consistency.

Some of you may remember the name "Don Carpenter." I have written about Don in the past. Don has kept a careful record of his struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and his strict adherence to Dr. Wallach's program. The lesson learned from his chronicle of more than 15 months is that perseverance pays. So many people feel bad, take our products for a short time, don't feel better and quit. Don, on the other hand, realized early on that when it comes to natural healing, repairs typically are incremental and long term. It takes years of abuse and neglect for the body to reach the point of collapse. Predictably, it takes years of attention, years of working with the body instead of against it, to effect repairs, to harvest health. In August of 2000 Don was diagnosed with a particularly vicious and debilitating form of rheumatoid arthritis, which attacks all the joints at once. After a an initial wrong turn into the land of steroids and prescription drugs he heroically embraced Dr. Wallach's concept of self-health and over a one year period of time using GlucoGEL, OsteoCAL, CM Plus, ME Ultimate Classic and ME Minerals was able to go from virtual paralysis to full, pain free, flexibility and limberness. What kept him going was his charts, the lines he drew on the wall, each measuring incremental progress: maybe an arm or shoulder lifted a quarter inch higher; his fingers able to move one eighth of an inch closer to making a fist, etc. Given the right tools the body can re-grow cartilage, can rebuild, re-architecture bone and add to bone density but it takes time; it takes discipline; it takes patience and resolve. I'll close by reporting on a phenomenal conversation I had ten days ago with a gentleman by the name of Paul Pesdall. Paul is 43 years old. He is an alcoholic. He drank heavily for more than 20 years. Toward the end of his drinking career he was up to a half gallon of vodka per day. Then came the inevitable collapse. He was hospitalized, completely helpless, flat on his back. Doctors reported an ugly scene inside: an enlarged, yellowy, fat infested, bleeding, ulcerated liver with considerable scarring or cirrhosis and an esophagus also hideously disfigured. As Paul described things, later, he was "walking dead." Scared enough to cold turkey on the booze (and cigarettes) Paul left the hospital. Then one of those fairy tale things one hears about happened. He found a "Dead Doctors Don't Lie" tape on his brother's doorstep. No one knew where it came from. He listened to the tape once, twice and then maybe fifty times. The message hit him full force, square between the eyes, stopped him in his tracts, "That's me Dr. Wallach is talking about. Not only have I stressed out my body with alcohol, I've been starving myself for years." The tape caused a complete turnaround. Paul embraced Dr. Wallach's message with every bit of fanaticism and abandon that he had, previously, reserved for his embrace of the alcohol and cigarette lifestyle.

Being unemployable and broke and helpless and extremely ill Paul's family took him in, gave him lodging and paid for Paul's first order of a combination of the Majestic Earth Ultimate Classic, the ME Minerals, the OPC-T, the Selenium, GlucoGEL and EFA. Paul was dying, still in bed, unable to function but with enough will power to start doing everything right. Wow! What a story. But it gets better. Ten days ago I spoke to Paul, again. He was excited, highly animated. He told me he was in a mall or someplace where he met some people with a little booth set up, offering ultra sound analysis. The cost was around $130. These were highly trained technicians doing lab quality work for physicians (and, in this case, the public) across the state. Over the months the "knot" Paul had spoken of previously had disappeared, he'd been feeling super healthy, but was curious to get medical confirmation. Still, for someone struggling to pay back debts, $130 is a lot of money. He talked to the technicians, told them his story, asked how much to scan just the liver. They were intrigued. They said they would do it for $50. They swabbed down his skin and hooked up the monitors. What they saw, inside, was nothing short of a miracle: a perfectly healthy liver! No bleeding, no abnormality in size, no cists, no ulcerations: a beautiful, fully functioning, healthy liver! They took picture after picture (about 20 in all). The one technician called over to the other and said, "Hey, this guy's liver looks better than yours!"

I made Paul promise me he'd contact the hospital, obtain the records of his visit there, back in August, the pictures they took of his liver, then, and send them to me along with copies of the recent ultra sound pictures. I've been delaying mailing this letter because I wanted to include the 'before' and 'after' pictures but they have not arrived yet. It's tough to get attention at a hospital when you are not sick. Keep doing right by your body, friends. Life is a precious flame to be nourished and held sacred. We don't have to sink a low as Paul did to know what it is worth. Thank you Dr. Wallach for showing us the way, for giving us the tools we need to keep strong and live long and healthy lives.
