Dear Friends,

As many of you may know, Youngevity held its 3rd Annual Convention the week end of June 23rd. Immediately following the Convention I left the U.S. for a two week vacation in Colombia (thus the tardiness of this issue). As the hubbub of Bogota filled my ears and the warmth and hospitality of the Colombian people filled my heart I, nevertheless, found my thoughts returning, again and again, to one particular lecture I heard at the Convention, the lecture delivered by Mr. Ben Fuchs. Not since hearing "Dead Doctor's Don't Lie" for the first time has a health lecture ever had such an impact on me. After hearing Ben talk I am even more deeply convinced that, indeed, there are answers, strategies, choices available to each of us, which can, when it comes to human health, help us secure better, more fulfilling, productive and rewarding lives.

Ben is a brilliant man, extraordinarily well read, articulate, passionate, engaged and engaging. A pharmacist by trade he, like Dr. Wallach, has broken with his colleagues, in Ben's case his fellow pharmacists, and embraced a revolutionary, low tech, common sense, nutritional and natural-product-based approach to human health. While other pharmacists spend their days deciphering doctor's handwriting and measuring out (sometimes lethal) prescription drugs, Ben has dedicated his life, his time, attention, focus and energy, to truly understanding the biochemistry of the human body and to learning how to best respect and meet its most profound needs.

What Ben brings to Youngevity is a brand new product, by the name of "Nature's Whey." Nature's Whey represents the culmination of all Ben's years of research and education and stands as the highest expression of his talent as a master formulator. Listening to Ben explain the how and why of Nature's Whey is rather like listening to a proud parent yet is akin, also, to the experience of listening to an innovator, to a true pioneer, to a man who is freshly returned from travels deep into the territory of new human understanding and who can not wait to share his new found knowledge with others. Dr. Wallach showed us the way to, taught us the importance of, the world of micro nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, etc.). Pharmacist Ben Fuchs rounds out our understanding of the dynamics of optimum health and longevity by introducing us to the world of macro nutrients.

What are "macro nutrients" and why is the introduction of Nature's Whey to the Youngevity product line the single most important step forward since the inception of the company? Best, I think, to rely on the words of Pharmacist Ben Fuchs to explain. What follows is a periphrase of the actual lecture Ben delivered at our recent Convention.

Dr. Wallach has taught us about the importance of taking in all 90 essential nutrients on a daily basis and it is his view that when we fail to do so we subject ourselves, on average, to ten different degenerative diseases for each nutrient missing from our diet. According to Dr. Wallach we are particularly at risk for mineral deficiency disease since this is the nutrient category (minerals) glaringly absent from our soils and therefore foods and therefore diets. The point Ben Fuchs makes, though, is that there is not a mineral in this world (or any essential nutrient, for that matter) able to confer benefit IN ISOLATION. Minerals work in tandem with vitamins and with EFA's and particularly in tandem with macro nutrients like protein, carbohydrates, fiber and water.

A perfect example of this is calcium. It is generally accepted that we need calcium to build and maintain strong bones and teeth and joints. But supplementing with calcium ALONE does more harm than good. Without magnesium, vitamin D, zinc, boron, etc. AND high quality, bio-available protein, our bodies do not know what to do with the calcium. Without these co-factors tissue literally chokes on calcium. Rather like feeding an engine gas with no air. The engine chokes. The system floods. In the case of calcium it winds up getting deposited, inappropriately in tissue. This is called tissue calcification. One of the ways we age and eventually die is through calcification. We, literally, turn to stone. Back to the engine, though. If we mix in a little air with the gas we get ignition, we get performance. If we mix in magnesium and vitamin D, zinc and boron, but ESPECIALLY protein with the calcium then, suddenly, the body knows what to do. Cells switch on. And the massive chemistry set which IS our body goes to work.

Whey is the purest, richest, most complete and bio-available protein source known to man. Natures Whey contains pure whey protein, soy protein (more on this latter) and various vitamins and minerals as co-factors. But wait a minute, eggs, meat, beans and rice contain protein. Why even bother with whey? Don't we get plenty of protein from our daily diet? Yes, we do get SOME protein from our diet (thus we are able to make LIMITED use of the other nutrients we take in). But here is the problem: When you heat protein, when you cook meat, fry eggs, etc. it de-natures the protein, diminishes its value and usefulness. Also, some protein, is difficult for the body to use. Bean protein, for example, gets a 60 from nutritionists in terms of bio-availability. The body must work very hard to use bean protein, to break down the food and to make use of the various components it contains. For nutritionists eggs are the standard in bio-availability. Eggs get a 100. Eggs are an excellent food. But who eats raw eggs? Whey protein is cold protein. No need to cook it It dissolves instantly in cold water. Whey protein gets a 150 or 160 from nutritionists! It is, simply put, the very best.

One of the most difficult and taxing tasks our bodies perform each and every day is digesting food, breaking food down, chemically, and putting the nutrients they contain to use. When foods are broken down, digested, 'burned,' for lack of a better term, free radicals are produced, (waste products, toxins). Free radicals are dangerous. The tissue found in the linings of veins and arteries is particularly susceptible to free radical damage, to cellular degeneration. Weakened arterial linings serve as perfect hosts for the deposit of plaque and cholesterol. As plaque builds and blocks arteries, heart disease ensues (stroke, heart attack, thrombosis, etc.). Heart disease is a top killer in America. Whey protein, cold protein, not only reduces digestive demand, the body uses whey protein to manufacture Glutathione which is its number one anti-oxidant (free radical scavenger). Ingestion of whey protein stimulates the vagus nerve and produces satiety (feeling that our apatite has been satisfied) which means we don't want or need to eat as much. Not only that but whey protein helps build and repair connective tissue in veins and arteries (along with copper, collagen, etc.) and helps to escort fats, transport them (lipo-proteins) and make use of them. The last thing in the world a heart patient wants is unescorted fat in his or her coronary arteries. The body uses whey protein to produce valuable metabolic enzymes which play a crucial role in providing us with energy, fueling every function, speeding up reactions and chemical transfers within the body. Whey protein combined with Vitamin C and fiber helps lower cholesterol. Cholesterol lowering drugs are among the most dangerous drugs prescribed, today.

The benefits of whey protein go on and on. We have all been warned by Dr. Wallach concerning the danger of sugar. If you ingest whey protein when you are craving sugar you will stop wanting sugar. This is because whey protein induces satiety, number one, and number two it stimulates production of the hormone, glucagone. Glucagon is a hormone of energy burning whereas insulin, its counterpart, is a hormone of energy storage. Carbohydrates stimulate the production of insulin. With insulin present the storage mechanisms of the body kick in and excess blood sugar is stored as fat.

Whey protein is perfect for losing weight not only because it stimulates the production of glucagon, taming insulin levels, but also because it provides the body with the raw materials it needs to build muscle tissue. Especially while we sleep the body uses whey protein to build and repair muscle and connective tissue. The metabolic requirements of muscle tissue is significantly higher than that of fat. Thus the higher muscle to fat ratio we have the easier it is for us to burn calories.

We all want to live long and healthy lives yet we swill down coffee and fill our faces with carbohydrates and sugars. This is akin to feeding a fire with high octane gasoline. We burn up and we burn out. Far better to avoid carbos (we need some complex carbohydrates) and feed the fire with slow burning logs, with protein, rather than gas (sugars). If insulin levels are held in balance the production of cortisol is kept in check. Cortisol is a stress hormone. It can cannibalize the system, tearing into reserves, undermining immune response, putting delicate tissue at risk.

Whey protein is rich in albumen. Albumen helps keep fluid where it belongs (inside cells--not leaking into ankles and belly) and it acts as a buffer, neutralizing acid in the blood. One of the primary causes of tissue degeneration and aging is low blood ph (acid).

Whey protein contains the amino acids which help build structure to your face. If you are getting wrinkles and the collagen in your face is shriveling up because of aging you don't need collagen cream. It won't do you much good. What you need is whey protein. Whey protein provides your body with the ingredients it needs to manufacture its own collagen, deliver the collagen to where it is deficient and make use of it.

Free radicals create an environment in which cells are susceptible to mutation. When cell chemistry goes haywire and cells begin to mutate, to divide in an inappropriate manner, this is termed "cancer." Whey protein is so rich in Glutathione, the bodies primary anti-oxidant, that when you inject whey protein into a tumor the tumor shrivels.

A small percentage of the population is "lactose intolerant." Some people are allergic to milk and milk by-products. Whey protein is one component of milk. It is crucial to note, though, that milk contains a great number of components. Whey protein is only one, very small slice of a wide spectrum of components. More frequently than not the allergen, the culprit in milk is not the whey protein it contains but a substance known as "casein." Casein is what gives mozerella it's stretch. It is an elastic, gummy substance that is not much good for any of us. Whey protein is a very powerful food, though, which some people may have problems with. Ben's suggestion is "give it a shot." It would be a shame to miss out on such an amazing supplement. Often, "allergies" are digestive problems in disguise. Better to treat the digestive problem first (digestive enzymes, strengthening intestines, fasting, etc.) than to bolt in fear of perceived allergens. Bottom line, let your body coupled with your own knowledge and experience be your guide in these matters.

Nature's Whey contains soy protein and vitamin and mineral co-factors in addition to whey protein. Soy is not a perfect protein source because, unlike whey, it does not contain the full range of essential amino acids. It is included, though, because it confers certain benefits whey does not. Top among these is protection against estrogenic diseases. The environment in which we live exposes us to dangerous levels of estrogen (which is a powerful hormone). Too much estrogen in the system and our chances of developing breast cancer (men and woman) or prostate cancer (men) rockets. We are exposed to estrogen and to substances which act like estrogen in the body through the meat and milk we ingest (loaded with hormones) and from plastics and pesticides. Soy protein protects us from these hazards.

In summary, if you want to give your skin, your bones, your teeth, your joints, your immune system, your cardio-vascular system, your digestive system, the support they require to function optimally and the protection they need to continue to serve, by all means consider ordering the newest addition to the Youngevity product line, "Nature's Whey." It costs $31.50 per cannister (powder). Buy one cannister per month at a minimum and use at the rate of one scoop immediately when you rise and one scoop immediately prior to bed. As a serious weight loss tool or health aid consider buying three or four canisters per month and drinking down one or two scoops prior to every meal in addition to using just before sleep and after rising. Nature's Whey is the perfect complement to the V.E. Minerals and V.E.U. Classic. In fact, you should mix your Minerals and Classic in with your whey. You can order Nature's Whey by linking to www.majesticearth-minerals.com, going to the secure online ordering page and typing in product code 23025.

Sorry this issue is so hideously late. We'll do better next time. Thanks again for your many kind emails and all your feed back.

Best of Health to You,
